This bug affected Iranian nuclear production hardware by targeting companies affiliated with a specific plant and infecting their computers remotely. Files were written to stall the production of enriched uranium from specific Siemens machines, which worked, and led to the government of Iran replacing large pieces of infrastructure before the bug was discovered by a security firm in Belarus, five months after the security breach. Stuxnet was the first bug specifically written for the manipulation of specific infrastructure controlled by a computer.
