Morris Worm

The Morris worm was one of the first computer worms distributed through the internet and the first felony conviction in the US under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Launched from MIT, the worm was never intended to cause damage. However, it caused denial of service when the process of trying to expose security flaws was replicated. This caused the slowing down of the computer to the point of becoming unusable.
